Common questions

What is the difference between an articulating and a telescopic boom lift?

An articulating boom bends at one or more joints, so it can go up and then over an obstacle to reach into a space. A telescopic boom extends in a straight line and gives you the greatest horizontal reach for the same machine size. Obstacles in the way point to articulating; open distance points to telescopic.

Is a cherry picker the same as a boom lift?

Yes. Cherry picker is the everyday name for a boom-type aerial work platform. Rental yards and manufacturers list them as boom lifts.

Can a boom lift be used indoors?

The electric units, yes. They run quiet with no exhaust and use non-marking tires. Diesel rough-terrain machines need ventilation and are meant for open ground.

How much notice do you need, and what about site paperwork?

On a bare rental the constraint is availability, so tell us the dates and we will confirm what is free. Two things worth sorting early either way: many managed buildings require a certificate of insurance naming them as additional insured, so check their requirements before the day, and if you want us to run the lift rather than just supply the machine, permits can add time. Our permit breakdown covers what a given lift triggers.
